Tour du Ruan
August 10, 2008Last Sunday, with 2 other mountain leaders from the Compagnie des Guides de Chamonix, we set off for 6 days around the Ruan with 19 teenagers. of 14 to 16 years old.
A great week on a quiet trail. The Ruan summit, located north-ouest of the Chamonix valley (further north of the Emosson dam), is barely known. The trail that goes around is yet splendid. Going through massif of different geology, it offers a variety of landscapes :
- limestone pavements of the combe aux Puaires pass,
- limestone cliffs of the Ruan or Tenneverge mountains,
- massive and verticals pics of the Mont-Blanc,
- eroded summits of the Aiguilles-Rouges…
richer than the classical Tour du Mont-Blanc. Panoramas of the Mont-Blanc are also, from my standpoint, far more spectacular than from the Tour du Mont-Blanc trail as they embrace the entire massif.
