5 days in the Mercantour (part 2)

October 15, 2008

Here’s the end of the story of our trip in the Mercantour… (check here for the first part)

IN THE TINEE VALLEY

This second trek was a completely different story than the first one. We had a great and warm weather, close to summer conditions. In addition to this, we started on Sunday when everybody was going back down. So we had the mountains for ourselves for two days.

Lakes

Their was a lot of lakes on our way, making great landscapes. In fact I wanted to walk off the trail the second day from the Rabuons lake to the Vans lakes, passing by remote small valleys filled with lakes left by glaciers. But my friend was tired from his conference in Nice the week before so we decided to stay on the trail and at each breaks I was running up to have a look at those remote lakes. We were both stunned by the views when we arrived at the Vans lakes. Burning autumn colors of the surroundings mountains reflecting into pure Caribbean blue water lakes: it was just breathtaking!
